As a result of concerns raised at a District 2 community meeting in 2017, Supervisor Kennedy reached out to and secured funding for WALKSacramento to conduct safety audits and host Safe Routes to School walking and biking events at Fern Bacon Middle School, Peter Burnett Elementary School, Pacific Elementary School, and Ethel I. Baker Elementary School. In addition to WALKSacramento, big thanks go out to community partners such as the City of Sacramento Police Department, the California Highway Patrol and Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates for their help!

Supervisor Kennedy is now working with County staff and other agencies to include recommendation from the audits, school faculty and staff, parents and students, in future plans for transportation improvement projects.
