It’s important to remember that even after years of dry weather the Sacramento region continues to face flood risks and residents need to be prepared. Here are tips and resources that can assist you in preparing for and dealing with floods in the area:
Report Flooding:
To report any flooding you see call 875-RAIN (7246).
Sandbags:
If your property has a history of flooding or recurring standing water each year (such as water building up at the garage or back patio for example), you are encouraged to get sandbags in advance of the rainy season and have them on hand throughout the winter.
Sacramento County’s sandbag sites are self-serve. Bags and sand are available at each location, but you must bring your own shovel.
There are sites available in or close to District 2:
• County Branch Center at 3847 Branch Center Road and
• Jose Rizal Community Center at 7320 Florin Mall Dr.
SANDBAG SITE RESTOCKING HOURS:
7AM – 7 PM, Mon – Fri.
Additional Sandbag Sites may be opened if continuous and extended heavy rainfall events are forecasted where severe, widespread flooding may occur.
