Working with the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, Sacramento County District Attorney Ann Marie Schubert’s Office, recently led the charge to reach an agreement with Motel 6 to improve the Motel chain’s operational standards throughout Sacramento County.

The Method of Understanding (MOU) allows the District Attorney and the municipalities to ensure Motel 6 will maintain the significant operational changes they have implemented over the past months to improve and address nuisance conditions at its properties.  The MOU provides cash security to ensure each of the six locations within Sacramento County meet best industry standards and practices.

Additionally, during the term of the agreement, Motel 6 agreed to contribute $750,000 to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office of Public Safety and Community Improvement Trust Fund. The District Attorney’s Office and the Cities of Sacramento and Rancho Cordova will be working with Motel 6 to distribute those funds for education and law enforcement training in the local hospitality community and to local nonprofit organizations that focus on human trafficking prevention, domestic violence issues, and youth intervention programs.

We are already seeing meaningful change in our community, specifically District 2 where the largest and previously most problematic of the Motel 6 sites in Sacramento County sits.
